QlikView Web Server(QVWS)

QlikView Web Server (QVWS) is a component of the QlikView Business Intelligence (BI) platform that is used to host and serve QlikView documents to users over the web. It allows users to access QlikView documents through a web browser, using a URL that points to the QVWS.

QVWS is responsible for handling requests from users for QlikView documents, and for serving the documents to the users over the web. It also handles the security and authentication of users, and can be configured to use various authentication methods, such as Windows Authentication or LDAP.

The web server can be either Microsoft IIS or the built-in QlikView Web Server (QVWS). A standard, full installation of QlikView Server install QVWS as a Windows service. The same capability is offered through a series of ASPX pages and a unique support service called QlikView Settings Service when IIS is utilised (QSS).

The management interface for the settings utilised by the ASPX pages is QSS.

One of the main benefits of using QVWS is that it allows users to access QlikView documents from any location, as long as they have an internet connection and a web browser. This can be particularly useful for organisations that have a distributed workforce, or for users who need to access QlikView documents from mobile devices or other remote locations.

The installation of QlikView Server comes with QlikView Web Server (QVWS). For certain QlikView Server setups, the QlikView Web Server can function as a standalone service.

An alternative is to implement a Microsoft IIS system, which offers more adaptability, various authentication methods, and web services for applications other than QlikView Server. A unique service, QlikView Settings Service, that manages management calls is deployed when Microsoft IIS is used.

Although other web servers can be used in a QVS context, eventually all traffic destined for QVS must pass through QVWS or the specific ASPX sites on IIS.
