A Practical Guide to Creating Actionable Bookmarks in Power BI
Power BI Bookmarks are a feature that allows users to save the current state of a report or dashboard and return to it later.
Bookmarks can be used to save specific filters, slicers, or visuals, and can be useful for quickly navigating to a specific view of the data or for sharing a specific view of the data with others.
Bookmarks can be created by selecting the “Bookmarks” pane on right side of the screen, and then clicking on the “Create” button. This will save the current state of the report, including all filters, slicers, and visuals.
Bookmarks in Microsoft Power BI are a feature that allows you to save a specific view or state of a report or dashboard and recall it later. You can use bookmarks to quickly switch between different views of your data, or to save and share specific views with others.
To create a bookmark in Power BI, you’ll need to first select the report or dashboard that you want to create a bookmark for.
Then, go to “View” tab and click the “Bookmarks” button. This will open the “Bookmarks” pane, where you can create a new bookmark.
Power BI bookmarks also allow you to create a button that when clicked, takes the user to a specific view of the report. Once you have created a bookmark, you can add it to a button by right-clicking the button and selecting “Add Bookmark.”
Bookmarks can also be added to a custom visual, which allows you to create a button that will take users to a specific view of the report when clicked.
Here are the steps to create a bookmark in Power BI:
- Select the visualizations or filters that you want to include in the bookmark. You can do this by also clicking on the visualizations or using the “Select” button in the “Bookmarks” pane.
- Give the bookmark a name and optional description.
- Click the “Create” button to create the bookmark.
You can create multiple bookmarks for a single report or dashboard, and you can also edit or delete existing bookmarks as needed. To recall a bookmark, simply click on the bookmark in the “Bookmarks” pane or use the bookmark’s name in the “Jump to bookmark” field in the “View” tab.
