Seamless Analysis -Qlik Sense Visualizations and Selections

In Qlik Sense, a selection is a way of filtering the data that is displayed in a visualization. When you make a selection, you are choosing a subset of data to include in the visualization, based on specified criteria.

You can make selections in Qlik Sense visualizations in a few different ways:

  • By clicking on an element in the visualization: For example, you could click on a bar in a bar chart to select all the data that corresponds to that bar.
  • By using a filter: You can add a filter to a visualization, and use it to select a subset of data based on specified criteria.
  • By using a search box: Many Qlik Sense visualizations have a search box that you can use to enter keywords or values to filter the data.
  • By using a list box or drop-down menu: These are special types of filters that allow you to select from a list of options.

Once you have made a selection, the visualization will update to show only the data that meets the selection criteria. You can also use the “Clear All” button to remove all selections and show all the data in the visualization again.

In Qlik Sense, selections made in visualizations impact the data displayed in all other visualizations and dashboards in the app. This enables users to focus on the data that is most relevant to their analysis and compare and analyze data across different dimensions.

The following are some of the ways that selections can be made in Qlik Sense visualizations:

  1. Point selections: Select a single data point in a visualization, such as a bar, line, or scatter plot.
  2. Area selections: Select multiple data points within a specified area, such as a rectangle or circle, in a visualization.
  3. Lasso selections: Select multiple data points by drawing a free-form shape around the data points in a visualization.
  4. Clear selections: Clear all selections or a specific selection made in a visualization.
  5. Selections from a field: Select specific values or ranges of values from a field in the data model, such as a date range, product, or region.

By making selections in Qlik Sense visualizations, users can quickly and easily focus on the data that is most relevant to their analysis and uncover insights and trends in the data. The selections made in visualizations also update the filter pane, allowing users to see the impact of the selections on the data displayed in all visualizations and dashboards in the app.
