The Show Me Feature in Tableau Simplified: Part 1
The “Show Me” feature in Tableau is a tool which allows you to quickly and easily create data visualizations by selecting from a list of pre-defined options. It is designed to be mainly user-friendly and intuitive, and it can help you create visualizations without having to manually configure all the details yourself.
To use the “Show Me” feature in Tableau, follow these steps:
- Open a new workbook in Tableau and connect to your data source.
- Drag and drop fields from a data source onto the canvas.
- Click the “Show Me” button in the toolbar. This will open a list of visualization options that you can choose from.
- Select the visualization type you want to use. Tableau will automatically create the visualization using the fields you have placed on the canvas.
- Customize the appearance and behavior of your visualization using the options in the “Format” and “Analyze” menus.
The “Show Me” feature is a quick and easy way to create visualizations in Tableau, and it can be especially useful for users who are new to the software or who want to explore different options without having to configure everything manually. However, it is not as flexible as creating visualizations manually, and you may find that you need to do some additional customization after using the “Show Me” feature to get the results you want.
By utilising the numerous graphs and charts available in Show Me, it is simple to visually assess the relationship between two fields. In this instance, we apply a line chart to two fields. The actions are as follows:
Step 1: While holding down the control key, choose the two fields (order date and profit) that will be examined.
Step 2: Select line chart by clicking the Show Me tab.
Step 3: On the scrollbar, select the Mark Label button.
Tableau, an advanced data visualisation application, provides several analytical tools without requiring the user to write any own code, which greatly simplifies the data analysis process. Show Me is one of these features. It can be used to apply a necessary view to the worksheet’s current data. A pie chart, scatter plot, or line chart are some examples of these views.
A data-filled spreadsheet is always accessible in the top right corner, as seen in the following figure. Depending on the type of selection in the data pane, some of the view options will be greyed out.
