Track Trends with Ease Using Tableau’s Innovative Trend Lines
Tableau Trend lines are a feature that allows you to visualize the trend of a variable over time. A trend line is a line which is plotted on a chart to show the general direction in which the data is moving. It can be used to identify patterns and trends in the data, and to make predictions about future values.
To create a trend line in Tableau, you can start by creating a chart, such as a line chart or scatter plot, and then drag a dimension to the Column or Rows shelf and a measure to the Columns or Rows shelf. Once the chart is created, you can right-click on the chart and select “Trend Line” option to add trend line to the chart.

- In the Analysis pane, click the “Reference Lines” dropdown and select “Add Reference Line”.
- In the “Reference Lines” pane that appears on the right side of the screen, specify the value or range that you want to show on the chart.
