Convert between Fractions, Decimals & Percents?
Dividing the numerator (the top number) with the denominator yields a fraction that may be expressed as a decimal (the bottom number). For instance, you might divide one by two to get 0.5, which is the decimal equivalent of the fraction 1/2.
Place the number of digits to the right of the decimal point over a power of 10 to convert a decimal to a fraction. When converting 0.5 to a fraction, for instance, you would place it over the power of 10 equal to the number of digits to the right of the decimal point (in this case, 1), as in the following formula: 0.5 = 5/10 = 1/2.
Divide the numerator with the denominator to convert a fraction to a percent, then multiply the result by 100. For instance, to convert 1/2 to a percent, multiply 1/2 ie 0.5 by 100 to get 50%.
Divide the percent by 100% to turn it into a fraction, and then, if you can, simplify the fraction. For instance, you would divide 50 by 100 to get 1/2 in order to convert 50% into a fraction.
Any value written as a percent is actually a fraction with a denominator of 100 since, as you should know, a percent is a ratio that compares a number to 100. For instance, 25% and 50% are equivalent to the fractions 25 and 50 of a hundred.
