Converting Fractions to Decimals?

Divide the numerator (the top number) by the denominator to turn a fraction into a decimal (the bottom number). The outcome will be the fraction’s decimal equivalent.

For instance, you would divide one by two to produce 0.5 in order to convert the fraction 1/2 to a decimal. You can divide 3 by 4 to get 0.75 in order to convert the fraction 3/4 to a decimal.

A mixed number, which combines a whole number and a fraction, can be converted to a decimal by first converting the fraction portion to a decimal and then adding the whole number.

For example, to convert the mixed number 2 3/4 to a decimal, you would first convert 3/4 to a decimal by dividing 3 by 4, which gives you 0.75. Then you would add the whole number 2 to get 2 + 0.75 = 2.75.

Remember that you may need to add a decimal point and a few extra zeros to the right of the division sign to make sure you have enough digits to the right of the decimal point when dividing the numerator with the denominator to convert a fraction to a decimal. For instance, you would divide 1 by 4 to get 0.25 in order to convert the fraction 1/4 to a decimal.

Remember, you can always use a calculator to help you convert fractions to decimals if you are having trouble doing it by hand.
