Taste the Perfection of Data Insights with Tableau’s Innovative Lasso & Radial Selection Tools

Tableau has two tools for making selections on a visualization: the Lasso tool and the Radial Selection tool.

  1. Lasso Tool: It allows you to make a freeform selection on a visualization by drawing a shape around the data points you want to select. This tool is useful for making selections on scatter plots, heat maps, and other visualizations where data points are not organized in a grid.
  2. Radial Selection Tool: The Radial Selection tool allows you to make a circular selection on a visualization by drawing a circle around the data points you want to select. This tool is useful for making selections on scatter plots, heat maps, and other visualizations where data points are not organized in a grid.

Both tools allow you to select multiple data points at once, and you can use the Shift or Control key to add or remove data points from the selection. Once you have made a selection, you can use the tools in the top right corner of the selection to further refine the selection.

Both tools are found in the toolbar on the top right of the Tableau window and can be selected by clicking on the respective icon.

Both tools can be used in combination with other selection tools like the box selection, the brush, etc. It can be used in combination along with filters to further refine the data points.

These tools are useful for exploring and analyzing data in Tableau, as they allow you to easily identify patterns, outliers, and other interesting insights in the data.
