What is Computer?

A computer is a machine that is designed to perform a wide range of tasks, such as processing data, storing and retrieving information, and running applications.

It typically converts instructions given to it in a variable program in binary form, as a computer can only understand the language of zeroes and ones.

A computer consists of several components, including a processor, memory, storage, and input/output devices. The central processing unit (CPU), sometimes called the processor, is an electronic machine responsible for executing all significant instructions given to the system and performing calculations. Another exciting name given to the CPU is the “brain” of the computer.

Memory, also called RAM (random access memory), is used to store data and instructions that the processor needs to access quickly. The system also has another kind of memory, the ROM (read-only memory), a type of non-volatile memory. It means it receives data and permanently writes it on a chip, which lasts even after you turn off your computer.

The computer contains storage devices such as a hard drive or solid-state drive, which is used to store data and programs permanently. Input/output devices, such as a keyboard, mouse, and monitor, are used to interact with the computer and view the results that the system gets after processing all the questions asked to it.

Computers are used in various settings, including homes, offices, schools, and businesses. They can be found in multiple sizes and types, including desktop computers, laptops, tablets, smartwatches and smartphones. Computers are unexampled objects in the digitally enhanced modern world. So, having basic knowledge about them is a must and enhances your portfolio.
