How to File ITR Online?

ITR stands for Income Tax Return. To file your ITR online, you need to follow the steps mentioned below:

Visit the official website of the Income Tax Department of India – https://www.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in.

Click on the menu stating “Login Here” and fill in your login credentials to access your account. If you do not own an account already, you will need to register yourself by clicking on the “New User? Register Here” link.

Once you have logged in, please click on the “e-File” tab on the top menu.

Select the relevant assessment year and the ITR form you wish to use.

Please fill out the form with the required information, and make sure to double-check it for accuracy.

After you have completed the form, you can either preview it or directly submit it. If you choose to preview it, you will get an extra opportunity to make any necessary changes before submitting the form. Therefore, we always advise you to preview the layout before actual submission.

If you have any documents that need to be uploaded, you can do so by clicking on the “Upload” button.

Once you are satisfied with your form and have uploaded any necessary documents, click on the “Submit” button to complete the process.

Please note that you may need to have an electronic signature (e-Sign) or a digital signature (DSC) to file your ITR online. If you do not have your e-signature, you can obtain an e-Sign by providing your mobile number and email address, or you can use a DSC if you are a company or a professional.
